need some reassurance

need some reassurance

my buddy has an 01 h.o 6spd truck cruzin down the road holding your foot on the skinny in the same spot it will lose power and rpms will drop then all the sudden rpms will pick up again to where they should be and has power again. truck had jammer 4's edge comp, fass 150/150, 5" ehaust and a south bend clutch. (just so you all know wht we are working with.) has no check engine light on or pending codes. injection pump going south 4 winter truck has 80,000 on oe pump. just did a cam shaft position snsr about 2 months ago. thanks for any help

Maybe the throttle position sensor , have it checked with a scope to find very small glitches .

i checked it while it was acting up and it only changed like 1-3 % just the rpm fell off went from like 1800 to 900

How did you check the TPS ?
A percentage is not a normal term used in this case , thats why a scope , you need to watch a scope screen to see for sure .

on my scanner (modis) i can choose from voltage or percentage. and it goes full swing just fine no glitches in it at all.

In every case that I've seen, the APPS will throw a code 0121 or 0122. On the other hand I've seen a bad VP and no CEL or codes present. And I say your pumps toast? no, BUT.... What's your fuel pressure?

I've had "deadpedal" with no codes...I disconnected then reconnected the APPS wiring connector a few times after finding 1 pin discolored and it's been OK for over a year now.

16 psi never drops below 13 psi

I would just go ahead and do an APPS reset and see if that helps. Look in the Tech section if you don't know how to do it. Sounds like you probably already know how.
Does it do it consistently?

it will do it almost any time @ 60 now its doing it at lower speeds
