Come on guys the dealership put a crankcase ventilator off of the old B engine on my ISB. They completely did away with the overflow bottle setup and just put a clear drain off the back of the motor. This can't be right.

now why would they do that. Doesn't that go against the whole "emissions standard" for the newer diesels. Instead of letting the blowby drain out on the ground, didn't they want it to catch in that bottle?

They did that because the stock setup was making the front of the engine and back of the radiator look like this :

BA,

Mine got it too. I guess I'd rather have the underside coated than the radiator plugged. When it was done I thought everything was fine and dandy until I had the truck up on a lift.

Once it warms up here with no chance of freezing I'm gonna rig up a vented catch bottle of some sorts. I guess I dont' have to worry about my front diff getting surface rust now..

How does it plug the rad?? - Oil gets between the cooling fins....

Why would you go back? Just put a bottle on the end of the hose.....easier to get at than when the bottle is mounted on the engine and you dont have to worry about losing oil if you ever go offroading.

This isnt a big deal.
