MORE fuel system problems!
I bought a 392 Walbro kit, from vulcan performance. At first I had 15psi at idle, and I could suck down to 7-8psi.
This morning I cranked the truck, and it was idleing at 6psi. I changed the inline pre-filter, and the filter in the housing. Same thing.
I cranked up the regulator. Now I have 18-20psi at idle, but I can still suck it down to 8psi.
I pulled the line off from the tank and blew it it (with the filler cap off), and I could BARELY get any air through. I guess my pick up tube's screen is clogged?
Im tempted to go trade it in for a Ford.

Could be that your pickup tube sucked up some crud. I blew about 20psi back up my fuel line into the tank (cap off) and it blew bubbles in the tank - I could hear it. Seemed to help a bit. Also replaced the pre-filter like you did, nothing in the filter when I cut it open and it still acted funny. I will be changing my power supply to the Walbro from the existing lift-pump wires to a relay setup activated by the lift-pump wires and hope that helps.
There is another thread going on where a guy called GDP and they suggested replacing the bypass valve on the VP44. I'm watching this one closely myself.

But my symptoms are not exactly like yours. I have great pressure most of the time. Even under hard acceleration, it only pulls down a lb or two max. What I have is it will sometimes act like a stinkin' old Carter. It will idle at 13 and drop to 3. Be like this a day or two, then be good again for many days. It seems it would act the funniest on longer drives. But not sure of that theory yet.

I am having a very similar problem as well. I have a thread going about it too.
https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=132302
My pressure gets so bad after the truck starts that that truck shuts off in like 15sec. I have dropped my tank and cleaned the prefilter too. I flow tested my pump and it only flowed about 60-70% of what it should be. I am currently awaiting a new pump from Glacier Diesel. Hopefully this will solve the problem. It has been 3 weeks since i drove my truck. I will keep you posted on my findings.
