A moment of silence for Shovelhead,,,,,,,
Just got a phone call from Ed and he is sitting on the side of the road about 5 miles from home, waiting for a wrecker.
He is just about 99.99% sure that his VP-44 is toast. I think he said he had the Comp on level 3x5 and left a stoplight,,,, Not romping on it,,,,, the tach climbed to 2000 and then "THE BEAST" died.
He will be online as soon as he gets the truck home. He's gonna need to start shopping for a VP-44.

okay, another newbie question...what is VP44 and what causes them to start failing and do I need to worry with my new 06? Everytime I learn something...you guys raise the bar higher for me again....
I'm Baaaaack. :
(About 83,000 miles on the pump)
As Dennis said, pulled away from a light accelerating (about 3/4 throttle) truck just nosed over like somebody turned off a light switch.
Crossed 3 lanes of traffic coasting (engine seemed to be barely idling as I still had steering) to pull off on an exit ramp.
Turns over fine, will not even cough like it wants to start.
Looks like Wifey's Landcruiser will be the vehicle of choice for a few days.......
On the bright side (if there can be one......)
The weather was in the 50s and clear, traffic was far enough behind that the "3 lane dive" was performed safely, the steering seemed to be assisted until I got over to the curb.
The Tow truck was an International Roll-back (Thank goodness NOT a Ford)
And most of all ....Wifey wasn't too ticked off.
(she even brought me a thermos of coffee)
NOW, to go shopping for a VP.
Thanks for all the kind sympathy.
It is definately appreciated.

I pierced the wire, I toasted the pump.
