I wonder if it is fueling at lower rpm, if it would work with the catcher? being it brings fuel in at a lower rpm.

Keep the reports coming!

I'm also interested in the smoke factor... seeing as the HRVP is not adjustable. With bigger injectors and at gross weight, would you think pre boost smoke might be a problem?

UPDATE:
First fuel refill after the HRVP that I could get some calculations together.
Using a .04 correction factor on the milage to compensate for my 235 sized tires over the stock 215s.

Fueled up to the rim last night at 1/4 tank in Yorktown area.
Mostly intown, maybe 80% city 20% Highway.
Comp run as EZ on level 3X5 mostly.
NOT being kind to the throttle pedal.
Result = ~16 mpg.
(About a mile or so better than what I got with the stock pump... usually in the 14-15 range.)

On the way home refueled again to the rim at my usual place to top off.
All highway, cruise set at 2100 rpm with a couple of short runs to 70+mph.
Result = 22.4mpg hand calculated
HR-VP44 with Edge Comp running in EZ mode at 5X5.
Overhead milage guesser reading 24.6

The best I'd seen before was just a tick over 20 and that was several years ago when still bone stock.

I'm pretty impressed with the milage for a 4.10 geared, auto tranny, dually.

YMMV

Kind of impressive, with a dually. I don't know that is justifies going out and buying one just for the better mileage, but might sway me to buy that pump instead.
Technically, it seems like you would save .01 cents per mile (calculated with diesel at 2.43/Gal) and if this pump was 400.00 more than another vendor's VP44 it would take about 40000 miles to pay for the difference. Increase the .01 if you pay more for diesel as this will drop your number of highway miles to payoff. These figures assume the same prioce for fuel and the same highway mileage.

This is cetainly not meant to take the air out of Ed's ballon, but to put things into perspective. If I needed a VP44 right now I'd probably go that route, as I wouldn't normally expect a new injector pump to increase mileage over a stock, new pump.

And thanks Ed, for keeping us up to date on this pump.

I didn't go with the HR pump expecting a milage gain (actually expected to loose a little), only to compensate for the loss of grin factor 'cuz I wasn't going to tap the wire for awhile on the new pump.
The milage is just gravy on the biscuit.
MMMmmmmm .....Biscuits n Gravy.....

All the more reason for others to consider the pump.
I LIKE gravy!
