Check back in about 2010, everyone here will be complaining about those junk 06' Rams and all their problems.
Usually what causes them to fail is the even more failure prone "lift" pump that supplies the injection pump (aka VP44). It dies and starves the VP and next thing you know you are stuck in Virgina somewhere.

Crossed 3 lanes of traffic coasting (engine seemed to be barely idling as I still had steering) to pull off on an exit ramp.
Turns over fine, will not even cough like it wants to start.
Looks like Wifey's Landcruiser will be the vehicle of choice for a few days.......
On the bright side (if there can be one......)
The weather was in the 50s and clear, traffic was far enough behind that the "3 lane dive" was performed safely, the steering seemed to be assisted until I got over to the curb.
The Tow truck was an International Roll-back (Thank goodness NOT a Ford)
And most of all ....Wifey wasn't too ticked off.
(she even brought me a thermos of coffee)
NOW, to go shopping for a VP.
Thanks for all the kind sympathy.
It is definately appreciated.

Hey, Ed,
did you notice if you had a Check Engine Light? and if so, let us know if any codes are there.
Being that mine died with nary a code thrown, curious as to what gets thrown, if anything, on a tapped wire VP44 death.

That's the weird part...
NO Check Engine light.
All looks/acts normal. It just won't start.
Still shows 16 SOLID psi of fuel pressure.
The '99s don't have the key-on-key-off feature.
I'll need to borrow a ODB II reader from the fleet mechanics at work to look for codes.
After waiting for 3 hours, I'd have settled for a Yugo powered tow truck.

There are a few guys that reported no codes or MIL I find it interesting how they all go in different ways, one thing for sure if it is the orginal pump it served you well.
I got the 0216 and I drove her for as long as she would go, until I had to take the 5er for a holiday then a wimped out and changed it for a happy trip....wife
phox you must have posted a milisecond before me on the codes

BTW, anyone got a good link to a "How to change your Injection Pump" site?
First BigBlue takes "Top Poster", then this, then I find out there's a waiting list to take my job.........what's next?.......
