loss or lack of power after long trips
I have noticed the last couple long trips when I took the truck out on the interstate for 4-5 hrs cruising along at 75-80 mph that once I get back on a road that is 55-60 mph the truck seems to have a loss of power. It takes off fine from the line and gets up to 55 mph, set the cruise and notice on the first slight incline that the truck is slowing down and it takes it forever to shift back down from overdrive to drive on its own. You can push the pedal down more with your foot and get it to shift down and it is fine, but will continue to do this for a while. It has done this to me twice now, both after long trips. If I speed up to 65-70 mph I don't notice it. Any ideas what it would be? Almost like after running that long the computer forgets its settings or something. First time it had me worried when I was up in the mountains and did it. This time was 1300' around my home.

pull the codes! sounds like a "dead peddle" could be an APPS or a VP, but pull the codes to start, with an 02 you can key on key off the ignition 3 times and read the codes in the ODO window

Problem goes away next day or no?
Only time I noticed anything similar was after 15 non stop drive to Tuscon. Truck Idles rough for a bit. Was fine next day??
Fuel pressure holding good when this happens?
Go to Autozone for free scan with fancier tool. If no serious codes... try complete disconnect of Edge Comp.... as a test. They have acted up before and caused some weird symptoms! Just a guess.

I read the codes and have the dreaded P0216. Guess that means my VP44 is on its last leg. Do any of you have recommendations on what to replace it with? I am leaning towards a Blue Chip Special X, but not sure it is worth the extra price. Be nice to get the truck back up into the low 20s again in fuel mileage. Probably will keep driving it for another month or so or until it dies completely.

Just about the same situation happened to me. Dead pedal after long trips along with some other stuff... Im currently saving for a VP, uspecially after discovering i had a bad lift pump.

I also contemplated a souped up VP when i got 0216. Then I read that all VPs are rebuilt on the same equipment, with the same upgraded electronics unless they are rebuilt by a shady shop. All authorized shops follow the same procedures. So I went with a regular VP and have no regrets.
