Removing the starter seems a little drastic to me, considering how accessible the L/P is from the top.
If you move the fuel filter assy out of the way, you have a clear shot. If you are vertically challenged like me, grab a step ladder and climb in.

It'll lose the prime, because you're disconnecting the fuel lines. Do the 'ol bump the key a couple times and it should then fire up.
