Question lift pump question on 2002

I have a 1998.5 3500 and have had zero problems with it except the clutch at 150k it now has 240k trouble free miles I love that truck. I had a weak or stupid moment and bought a 2002 2500. When I went to change the fuel filter for the first time I took the filter out and drained the can then clicked the key foward to see if the lift pump was working it buzzed but nothing came out. On my 1998.5 I would have had fuel all over the place by doing the same thing. Is the lift pump shot. Thanks in advance for any info. on this.

Yes! The LP dead...

You should buy yourself a fuel pressure guage... Your LP might of been dead for a long time...

There is a slim chance of a pickup problem or cracked fuel line. But as much as these pumps fail I would start with a new one.

If you bumped the starter, heard the lift pump cycle, and no fuel ended up in the fuel canister, then yes, your lp is shot. I would replace/ upgrade the system asap. Make sure to check for codes and hope you don't see the vp death code.

Yes, any Dodge Dealership can replace it under warranty.

Yes, I forgot that little tidbit of information.

On 2nd thought, you might be better off just getting the lift pump from Cummins, or the Hoesli(sp?) website mentioned numerous times in this forum.
