Problems Fixed on 2002's: Lift Pump, Trannys, etc.
Diesel Gods,
Have alot of the past problems with lift pumps and tranny's been fixed on the 2002's? [undecided] I hear some guys say that they have had problems with previous years models with such things, then I hear other folks say that Cummins has addressed these issues. :
It would be nice to think that Cummins would address such problems.
For me, so far so good. ;D 8)

Umm my truck was bombed from the day I got it I dunno much about any issues I lost my warranty the day I drove my truck off the lot. As for probs, un just the balljoints in the front end of mine are worn out already. Other then that any probs I have had are a result of bombs. I do have a good lift pump though and my tranny is holding for now with a TQ and VB upgrade along with better clutches. Hope this helps
Jamie

Should last longer if you don't bomb, if you don't drive WOT and then get off the pedal and if you keep it over 1/2 full of fuel at all times. Plus use a good diesel fuel additive that lubes the system. As for the transmission it is one of the best going per some transmission experts I have spoken with. It will last a long time if you don't bomb your truck or abuse it by towing or pulling loads outside spec's, and change the fluids and filter per the owners manual.

I have a friend who pulls Hot shot and has 2 02 with over 100k
on them and have never had a problem. I will soon be buying one of these trucks so if anything goes wrong I will be sure to tell ya.
DM01
Re:Problems Fixed on 2002's: Lift Pump, Trannys, etc.
There have been '02's with lift pump problems already.
Supposedly it is a newer design.
Maybe these failures are early production 2002's using up the last of the older lift pumps?
Kind of like the KDP in the early 98.5's and 99's, using up the last of the older style gear covers?
Mine has been fine so far, only had it on a Briarhopper gauge once though, and that was idling and a little pedal, not WOT.
My transmission is still fine as well, but I am unBOMBed so far.
