Question leaking transfer case

i have a slow drip between the transmission and the transfer case. it is a 1998 ram 2500 with automatic transmission. it does not smell like transmission fluid. it feels like 10w oil. should i worry about this?

if you keep it full, no. if you forget and run it empty, yes.

hi
the only fluid in the trany and transfur should be atf+4

look at your transfur case fluid for color , mine was blackish .

rebuilt my transfur case with all new seals , but the real culprut was the seal in rear of trans case !
hi and dry now !

Also the xfr case quantity is very small and any leak will quickly put it in danger.

Isn't most of the transfer case lower than the transmission? Seems unlikely that transfer case seal would leak there, more likely the transmission.
