installing starter contacts

I'm going to be doing the starter contacts shortly. Since I'll be by myself with no second car to make parts runs and I'm not going to be near my tools so I need to know exactly what I need to have available to get the starter off and what I need to remove the covers etc. I have a few tools that I carry with me but I need the exact combination for this operation.

Second, Will I need to do an APPS reset since the batteries will be off for a while.

Thanks

12 pt wrench for the 3 mounting bolts. 15mm socket for the pos. wire, and a 5/16 socket for the neg wire. Dont take the motor cap off. Just take the cap off of the gear plunger thingy???

You're welcome. I think the 3 bolts are 10mm. I did it this weekend and was surprised by how easy it was. the hardest part was getting the starter back in.

Yeah that top bolt is tough, but a Good $$ saving project, not to mention if the Starter remains engaged could cause big headaches

Go after the top bolt first. Makes the job easier.

See my pics for old contacts.

Wow Thanks for all the input. I'm in a bit of bind as the apt won't let me work on the truck in the parking lot. She has a problem even when I check the oil.
I can pull an AZ work on it in their lot but it's not comfortable there either. At least I can go and buy a tool if I need one. I can go up to relative place about 120 miles but there aren't tools available unless I bring them. Of all bad things my tools are in storage and very difficult to get to also. Hopefully I'll change that in the coming months.

Will I have to do the APPS reset.?? I know I won't be setting any speed records on this easy project.

Oh Yeah, Geico those are some burned up contacts. I like your dog too.

Thanks again.
