Injector Pump or APPS Sensor???

BIGHEAD what was the Part # for the TPS aka bellcrank.

You said $270 then quoted it as $325. Which was it?

I talked to my diesel guy this afternoon. I'm taking my truck in Friday so they can check my fuel pressure at the lift pump and see if I have done any damage to the injector pump.

I should have 10-14 psi at the lift pump...at idle. This meets the factory requirements.....but not what the engine needs.

We will be adding an aftermarket set-up.....can't remember the name now

Basically better pump, bigger fuel line and relocating the pump closer to the tank, which is apparently alot of the problem.

He told me he sees alot of lift pump failures, but has rarely seen the APPS test bad.

I guess I'm driving the Neon 'till Friday .

Might get the EZ put on at the same time

If it helps you at all....

The APPS/bellcrank assembly for my 2001 is 1-53031575AH. I paid $381 Cdn for mine.

I would lean more towards the lift pump now though.

How do you do an APPS reset?

Well like I said, I had this problem. I replaced the overflow, no dice. I can't swing the cost of a new pump, so I did the APPS reset (let it reset for over 2 hours). I then fired it up, and DISCO!!!! the problem is gone *knock on wood*.


I have had similar problems with my Dodge.

Did you do the APPS reset AFTER you installed the new one? I think it is required.

I'm going to have to take my truck in this weekend and have it tested. It sort of had a bit of dead pedal on the way home tonite.....but a bit different then before. Before, I had to change my engine rpm to regain pedal. Tonite, it was cutting off for only a second then coming right back on.

I think I'm going to have them ( my diesel shop....not the dealer! )set up a fuel pressure guage in my truck to see what it's doing when the pedal cuts out.

Well.....it's been diagnosed.

My old APPS was fine. Never had the check engine light anytime but he tested for it anyways. No related codes either.

They did a pressure and volume test at the lift pump. Idle pressure was 11psi...acceptable. Volume was a different story. Doing a 7 second idle test, I should flow 250 ml of fuel. I'm flowing 70ml.

Do I need to say it.....bye-bye injector pump

Soooooo, now I'm getting a new injector pump, the complete FASS system, an Edge EZ while it's there and some guages to keep an eye on everything.

I would really love to here on the news one day that Chrysler has recognized a problem with ALL the engines and not just the 03 and 04's. I want to shove my old lift pump and injector pump down someones throat.

Is this measuring bypass fuel....at the return line....or fuel intake for the VP??

That's roughly 34 gal per hr! What I'm really trying to find out is...
How much fuel flows through a VP44 an Hour? At cruise, say 70 mph, we only consume 4-5 gph, so 34 gph sound about right.

Next question...does flow rate change with acceration? Or is it 34 gph (or whatever) all the time??

Well my truck is acting fine now. I set my Edge box down to a lower level and the truck is acting great.

Strange bird she is.....still love her even when she get's irritable...LOL
