injector lines
injector lines
My truck starts to miss after warming up just a bit. It only will miss when not under load. Just idling it misses, Press the brake, accelerate it will not miss. I just pulled the injector lines and all were dry at the connection except one.(at the head) The diesel pored out as I pulled the nut back. Ferrel fitting still in place. Could this connection be sucking air and causing the miss at idle but gets enough fuel when under load conditions?

Well I pulled the connector between the injector and fuel line. The female ferrule has a very small scar. Can this be smoothed out, maybe with emery cloth? Maybe just see if Dodge has the part tomorrow.

Was the line leaking? If it wasn't leaking then there is no problem there. With the pressure that's in those lines they won't suck air.
Have you isolated one cylinder as being the culprit? Could be an injector not popping off correctly at idle.

This is exactly the same problem I have right now. Took it in and they weren't able to isolate it to one cylinder. I think it began after the install of the RV275's, but I am not 100% sure I didn't notice it before...
They cracked one line at a time, also used a scanner to shutdown one cylinder at a time and still were not able to isolate it to a single cylinder. They wanted to swap the stock injectors back in, but I had already sent them for core
I really hope you figure it out, and if you do, please post the solution!

Mine did the same thing after I installed the 275rv's I narrowed it down to one cylinder with a infered thermomenter.I then changed the injector and it was ok.Just one bad apple spalls the whole bunch
Is there such a thing as a bad injector body, or is it just the tips that get worn? Before my pump went south, I had a hot idle miss. The shop installed the pump, commented on it as well. They installed new BD nozzles, and the miss is still there, albeit less pronounced. Only when hot though. Pop off pressures were all within about 3% of each other, but I don't know if that is within acceptable tolerance or not.
I dont think that will be the problem there's just not too much to the body as long as the pop off preasure is wright and they are balanced.Have you had the valves adjusted ? kinda sounds like one may be too tight.I'm sure that someone else has had the same problem and will post it.

All valves have been checked, all within tolerance. Tonight I lost all boost pressure. (Turbo still spools) Cannot see anything obvious. Will check it out in the morning. If its not one thing its another.

Yes, injector bodies can have problems. I know, I had one crack down the side of the body and it leaked fuel into the cylinder at all times. I had boost but could not get the smoke to clear up to save my life, even cruising down the highway with almost no throttle.

I used a infered thermomenter the one that was missing had a lower temp. You could have a map sensor going bad when mine went bad it did not miss but it had no power no boost because it was not adding fuel.It was a gradule thing at first it was just a jerk every no and then on a hill.Kind of like hitting a bump in the road. Then it started setting low and high boost codes.I forgot to say in the beginning take you temp reading'son the exaust manafold at each cylinder.
Hope you don't mind but I am going to piggyback on this thread
Just replaced my IP and the LP this past weekend and now I have a miss at idle when its warmed up. It does not do it at any other time. And never did it before I replaced the pumps.
Did I not get the airhorn back on right or is it something different? I double checked all the bolts and everything is good.
it does idle a touch higher then before, runs smooth thru the gears and overall am very happy. Just confused by the miss at idle.
