Inconsistent starting
Inconsistent starting
Truck started having trouble starting. Voltage dropped to 14 volts. Replaced batteries, cca is more but I believe amps are less than old batteries. Batteries are little smaller. Now to the starting again, sometimes truck starts fine. Now regardless of engine temp. or weather trouble starting. Sometimes engine crank is same speed but takes like 5-6 seconds to start. Other times engine barely cranks but the linger I hold the key over slowly the engine crank speed improves. Now truck is in the body shop from a tire blow out on freeway and there saying truck won't start. Thanks for the help
check all cables and clean, most likely starter contacts are shot, or starter is plain wore out, contacts generly cause the starter to stay running or you hear a "click" and the starter wont turn over, if bad enough battery current cant make it to the starter motor causing slow cranking, also brushes can be wore out causing the same issue(slow cranking) but if its intermediant, I'd blame the contacts. contacts can be found here
