How do you ID a rebuilt VP44?

I was looking through some old paper work (Nov. 2002) and I found the receipt when my friendly local Dodge dealer replaced my dead lift pump. on it, it says they replaced the injection pump, 14450102 pump replace N/C.
I can't see any rebuilt sticker on the pump, how can you tell?
guess it was my lucky day and I didn't know it till now.

They might have had new IP still kicking around back in 2002... Look on the side of the pump to see if you see where it was stamped REMAN

I know you could still get new from Dodge dealers up until end of 04... maybe into 05!
I'd bet a dealer replacement in 02 was new...unless they were cutting corners for extra profit??

Serial Number might tell you....if you can get the history on it from Bosch or an approved rebuilder.

When the VP is rebuilt it goes through a calibration where the timing is set and a key number is assigned. The old info used to identify the pump is now not correct and has to be removed. In this picture you can see the info on my rebuilt pump. Notice the circular grind marks where the old stamped numbers were removed. The manufacture date will probably tell you when it was rebuilt but I am unable to find the magic decoder ring. This pump was purchased about 3 years ago.

You can come by and check out my "used" pump this weekend as I'll be replacing mine.

Curious... PIC does not even show if it's a #27 or #28 (HO) pump. MY rebuilt still have original Pump model # and original SN (i assume) on it!

I believe the early VP44 pumps were not called 027, SO or 028, HO pumps and may have some differences from the newer pumps. When I purchased this pump for my 98.5 I had to give an engine serial number and it was considered a different pump from the standard 027.

I wonder if the current 027 pump would work.

That's why I was confused! Ind Injections Company Store does not ask for CTD year. Just says #027 or #028 pump for 98.5 through 02.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I don't see those calibration #s on my pump. only two bar code stickers. one on top by the electric plug, and one where the calibration #s are in the pic.
