How did your VP44 die?
About 64,000 when mine quit. Still had good lift pump pressure but when hot it would dead pedal. It has the dreaded codes for vp 44 timing failure. I still have the stock lift pump at 85,000. 11 psi idle and no less than 5 at wot.

Mine never died, but I checked the codes in the Odo one day and it flashed up 0216 so I took it to the dealer and they replaced it. Before my appointment to get the VP44 changed I had one or two instances of dead peddle. Btw, the LP and fuel pressures were good.
52K and never had low fuel pressure. Last fall in hot SW weather I had hard starting. A month ago, two cases of dead pedal and a 216 error. Mileage appears to be back up with the new pump from MWFI. Original lp 15lbs at idle and 11-12 at WOT. Geno's Vulcan kit and pump in the frame rail.

P0216 Code, but truck ran OK, I took it to the dealer, 92k miles and still under warranty.
1) Dealer said lift pump was bad and IP was ok, replaced it with "in tank" pump under warranty.
2) Less than 1000 miles later intermitant dead pedal and P0216 returns. Back to the dealer. Now they clam throtle position sensor is bad. Replaced under warranty.
3) Less then 24 hours later, dead pedal again. Dealer claims "in tank pump pickup was blocked by plastic". Warranty repair. Codes reset, truck seems to be ok.
4) On the way home from the dealer dead pedal again and P0216 again. Now I start yelling, and they replace the VP44 under warranty.
Drove from CT to Key West and back pulling 5er with no problem or codes, so I guess it's fixed. I also installed low pressure idiot light with 7lb switch. The light will flicker a little on extended WOT, so I guess the new in tank LP is working ok.

check my sig for dates but the my pressure was below 2 @ idle no code 3months later 0216 popped up warrenty changed both, following time same 2 @ idle no code changed LP, 3rd LP 2 @ idle for 6months no code warrenty out installed vulcan.
My truck started with a surging problem at about 10k miles. It would only do it at about 25mph while holding a steady speed. I was out of town when I noticed this. I took it to the dealer where I was at to check it out. They said the VP44 was bad, but did not have one in stock. I drove home and took it to the dealer where I purchased the truck. They said everything was fine and could not get it to surge. I take the truck home and go out of town again. After a 350 mile drive I pull into my brother's driveway and it dies as I coast in. Towed it to the first dealer who looked at it and had the VP44 replaced. I have over 60k on the new one with no problems (yet).
