How did your VP44 die?

Alright fellas, just a simple poll. No comments necessary.

Mine was running fine then one night after work it cut out a few times on the way home. Parked it at home for a couple of hours then when I tried to leave it would start then after about a minute it would idle rough and die. Did this many times until I finally gave up and realized it was the VP.

I'm not sure how to define my failure. I have had 2 VP44's replaced under warranty. One after about 5000 miles and the second at 40,000 miles. Both times the truck ran perfectly but the check engine light came on. I took it to the dealer and he replaced the VP44. The LP has never been replaced.

Mine died a slow death...had a nasty miss at idle, nothing helped, started surging a little at WOT, began to blow white smoke and surge bad under moderate to hard acceleration and a significant loss of power (lift pump was replaced a couple of months before the failure)...never threw a code

Mine had 16lbs or preasure, but the fuel module in the tank failed and it was 16lbs of air no fuel.

I started to get the dead pedal. The dealer replaced the VP44 and did the intank pump. Then I deceided it was time to get gauges. When I first put them in, it read 6 psi at idle and 1-2 on the highway. So I bought bigger fuel lines and a Holley Blue. Now I have 25psi at idle and 16psi at WOT.

Mine was running fine. I was towing and pulled in for fuel. Truck would not start back up. I had no signs whatsoever that it was going out. This was at 6 years and 144k miles.

Monitored Fuel Pressure with a full time gauge since she had 1,000 miles on her.
NEVER under 5 psi while running.
Edge Comp for ~ 4 years. (No pump wire)
Hooked up pump wire. Ran it for ~ 8 months at all levels.
Just died like I'd turned the key off without warning, or a single hiccup while running @ 2,000 rpm down the road on a warm December afternoon.
approx 83,000 miles

IIHRVP installed in it's place.
All good now.

Not really, I had 253,000 on my '99, sold the truck last year and it's still running great.
