I finally got around to scanning my codes on my truck but it came up empty. I have talked to a couple diesel shops and they say that my truck sounds normal and put a chip on it and it would change it alot. Does this sound right?

Not really, especially if they used the term "chip".

Buddy with all things considered you should go to advanced auto parts and get a boost gauge it will run you about 40$. thats pritty cheap. Just use the mounting bracket that comes with it and put it in the hole on the right side of the raido. save time and money. also look at diesel power they have a tech deal in Nov 06 issue about pyro and boost install.

I got a free fuel pressure guage i just need to find a pod or universal mount for it but i am not going to plug my dash hole. I think i am just going to save up for a juice w/ attitude moniter and that has all the guages in it. plus i will have the chip so it would kill two birds with one stone. My next thought would be maybe a bad injector but not sure yet???

They are probably right. My '99 pulling a 7K# travel trailer was a real dog until I got to cruising speed, then it pulled fine. Mine is a 5 spd, not auto.

I added an Edge EZ and RV275 injectors and it really woke the truck up. Especially in 3rd, 4th and 5th. Not a race truck, but towing is now very acceptable.

Fuel pressure gauge: $7. Air pressure gauge: $7. nylon lines, tapped bolts: $20. Total: $35. No need to get the newest and coolest set just to get information.
And, Dmax with Allison is a good truck. Too bad it can have mechanical problems too.
Check out Surplus Center.

Look in the "Tech Facts" section up top there, it's under APPS.

They don't have to be throwing a code for the reset or recalibration to help.
