The other trick I have used is to clean really well with brake clean, scuff with 80 grit and use 5 minute epoxy. But pulling the pan is the next easiest option.

I sharpened an old flat head screw driver as sharp as possible. Took my little Torch and kept heating it red hot, inserting it into the old crank sensor, and repeat (a screw was already in the sensor for removal). After awhile I finally had enough plastics material gone that I could rotate the sensor within the block (did not melt the sensor all the way through). After some more melting and digging away at the sensor, I was able to get some channel locks and rotate/pull the sensor out.
Good Luck!!
