I don't think clutchless shifting on a synchronized trans is a good idea because you can screw up the speed matching a little and get away with it - no grinding or banging, it still works even if you're slightly off all the time. A non synchronized trans like a 10 speed will let you know every time you screw up, so you get good fast. Despite what I just said, I think that if you got 185k on the trans you did allright. You're obviously pretty good at it or you would have killed it long ago.

Do Ya All think I could have got more if I wouldn't have slipped shifted it? What kind of mileage do the clutchers get? I got 215000 now and it clashes but I still can clutch it into 6th and keep it from grinding. When time suits me better I plan to have it rebuilt but I can see the 250000 mile mark coming around first.(I just crossed my fingers ) Is there any one out there with more and if there is are you a clutcher or a slipper?

IMHO I believe you would have more trouble free miles if you had used the clutch. But wadda I know?
I have been driving standard transmission vehicles since I was 9 years old and so far (touch wood) I have never had a tranni rebuilt. Only had a slushbox rebuilt.

Don't give me a standard. I'm hard on them. I always use the clutch, but I have this urge to really work the gears hard. I do a lot of speed shifting (always with the clutch though) and I slip the clutch a little coming off the line. I slip the clutch BAD when I want to come off the line hot without much, if any, wheelspin.

you probably would have gotten more miles out of the syncro's, but trade that for more clutch wear... six in one, half dozen in the other.

On my truck, the original clutch gave out at 160,000 but it was teh pilot bearing that failed, the clutch, flywheel, and pressure plate were hardly worn at all...
