Gauge installed...low fuel psi...decisions???
Gauge installed...low fuel psi...decisions???
Just put in gauges this weekend...fuel pressure is 10 psi @ idle, 7 @ cruise, and 4 @ WOT. Wondering what I should do. I think I read that 5 psi @ WOT is the limit. If I take it to the dealer and they do their test and conclude it's not bad enough, they will probably charge me for their time. Then I guess I would be out that money plus the cost of a new lift pump. The gauges are my first mod, but I've got a MAD ECM coming this week and a Scotty II. Anybody face this after installing gauges? What do you think the dealer will do? I'm around Austin, Tx anyone had a good experience with a dealer who has a diesel tech?

Be sure you unhook the gauge from the banjo before taking it in or the will blame the failure on your gauge. Don't ask me how I know.
If they'll do it under warranty, let them eat the cost. If not, hook yourself up a holley fuel pump and be set for a very long time. I've had mine on for almost a year and even with slamming it into rocks and submerging it in mud it's still holding 15psi@idle and 12-11@wot with 275 injectors and a comp.

5 psi is the minimum acceptable WOT fuel pressure but everyone with bombed 24v likes to see a fair bit more than that.....the dealer will likely say that your LP is fine but you already know it is not......don't waste your time and money at the dealer......buy a new LP out of your own pocket - there are some good online deals out there if you search. If you are getting a Scotty II, I would suggest adding a Smartfuel kit to that order. It will greatly improve the life and performance of the LP.......With a half smoked old LP and my Comp on 5x5, I can barely get the WOT fuel pressure down to 9 psi......0n 3x4 I can get it down to 11 psi, cruise at 12.5 psi and idle at 13.5 psi.....all with a very high mileage LP and a Smartfuel.
So is the Scotty Smart fuel just modified banjo bolts, or also larger line? I did notice the larger hole size on the tapped banjo I installed with the gauge vs. the stock bolt.
The Smartfuel kit completely replaces all banjo bolts with JIC fittings and high quality 1/2" hose.....check out the install instructions at Scotty Air Systems and check out the pics of what replaces stock fuel line and banjo bolts.
