Fuel module check valve?

I have been having trouble starting my truck, the VP is bleeding down, I put a check valve in the line and problem solved. So what stops the fuel from bleeding back to the tank? is there a valve in the fuel module that has gone bad? The overflow valve in the VP is good, but I noticed it has a bleeder, so air can bleed back threw it anyway. I have an OEM carter pump relocated to the tank, is that supposed to stop the flow?

HELP I AM SO CONFUSED!

Do you have any signs of leakage? If so you could be pulling air. Thats most common.

I looked and looked and can not find any air leaks at all. The check valve did the trick for now and I guess I will keep looking. I did hear something about it being a sign of a vp 44 going bad, but could not find it in old posts. I am hoping it will start leaking if there is a leak somewhere. It just started about two weeks ago out of the blue?

Thanks Bob
