Smile First Fuel Filter Change

Well after reading all the how-to and what-to-do post I decided to give it a try. Everything went smooth untill I tried starting it. Bumped the starter and let the fuel pump run 4 times. The truck started, but died. Bump 7 times, it would not start. Being that I had my last 2 finals in school today, and that they were terrible, I could see my evening might become just as bad. So I cracked the banjo bolt, bumped the starter 6 times, nothing. Cracked the line at the injector pump, bumped the starter 4 times and walla we have ignition. I'm sorry for rambling, but I really appreciate all the tips and facts that I get from this site. I love learning so much about these trucks.
Thanks,
Nick

I would be checking the lift pump volume and psi. Usually a good lift pump will easily fill the filter canister in the 20 sec run time when you bump the starter. Kudos for getting it started though....knowledge is king!

J Body,
Yea I need to get gauges. I had the lift pump replaced 10,000 miles ago, but I know that doesn't mean anything. I hate haveing to worry about the injector pump, I need to get gauges and a FASS.
Thanks,
Nick

Not to worry. No matter how I do it (and I've tried every method mentioned) I still ahve to crank the heck out of it and take out the plu on the filter housing and either add fuel or let the LP fill it up. Sure is a good feeling when she pops off again.

First time I did mine it was pre-gauges and on a dying LP, I was freaking out and just kept priming it, finally it came to life and I about danced around the neighborhood.

I was just bitten by the fuel filter change, truck died. Does anyone know if the billet fuel filter tops with a gauge port are still available and where to get them? Gotta get a fp gauge! Too cold here to fix myself so it is at the Cummins shop.
