Finally got the truck!

Just picked up the truck.
It does have a couple issues but I can't complain for the price I got it for.
2001 2500 short bed extended cab 4X4.
134,000 miles
Its an auto with 2000 miles on a new tranny.
Factory aluminum rims and disc brakes.
Tow package with a no-slip diff in the rear.
It is completely stock with the only after market items are stereo and 3 gauge pod.Boost, Exhaust temp and tranny temp.
It has 3 issues, first is the airbag light stays on. i haven't checked into it.
The second is it has the engine light on. Put a code reader on it and brought up no codes.
third is fuel gauge doesn't work.
It runs fine with plenty of power. Tranny shifts like new.
Goes straight down the road and stops well.
Well, Gotta get back to it.
Thanks for looking
Ken

$8500.00
New tranny, New brakes,
Just need to find out what the mystery code is.
I had $14,500 put away for a truck so I should be able to take care of the issue plus do a couple upgrades with the remainder.
I guess it is a late 2001 since it has rear discs?

a couple planned upgrades are upgraded torque converter and valve body.
4 inch exhaust, Fuel pressure gauge, possibly a FASS system and some sort of computer control box.
I would do a pic or 2 but I am 3 hours from home and will be back tomorrow.
May get some tomorrow.

Smart man, FP gauge and any aftermarket LP will serve you well.

Congrats on the new rig.

Now get digging on that code.

I've been searching for a while for this truck.
Did find a 98 for $9,000 but passed because it had a 53 block. had no sign of any crack on the block but didn't feel comfortable about it.
Glad I heald out.
The truck is in need of tires which is a good but bad thing.
Good thing is the 4 tires wore very even.
Bad thing is I need to buy tires.
I think I will be going with the Dueler A/T Revo's

Thanks, Ken

I'm running the Dueler A/T's right now in the 265 size. Good tires and they look nice and aggressive but they're not load range E.

I think they have them in load range E in 265s
I have looked at so many tires so I can't be too sure about that.

Well, I was able to pull the codes using the ignition key.
I guess my code reader doesn't like me or something.
I feel better now and will be comfortable driving the truck 200 miles home.
Code P0460 is fuel level sensor malfunction and P1693 is a companion code.
I knew about the fuel gauge already.
I am so glad this site is here for us to work with.
Thanks, Ken

the airbag light is most likely the clockspring behind the steering wheel, reasonably cheap part, easy to replace.

$8,500?? Thats just insane. Around here you won't find an 01-02 under 17k, unless its wrecked or extremely high milage. I just stopped at the dealer last night took a cruise around the lot... they had a 28k price tag on an 02 ext cab long box... I don't know the miles and it was a manaul... but it did have a 5th wheel ball in the back and the box was scratched pretty good.

Made it home safely.
Nothing like a diesel for pulling the grades!
I think the airbag issue is the harness under the dash.
While making a pitstop I messed with the under dash wiring and the check engine light plus the airbag light went off.
The airbag light came back on a few more miles down the road so that tells me something.
Didn't want to get too far into it while I was on the road since I had no spare fuses and it was running fine.

This truck does have a salvage title. It was hit in the front end about 70,000 miles ago.
All parts were replaced and no frame issues.
Can't tell unless you search.
Thanks, Ken

well the codes came back so I will look further into it.
I originally thought the issue was the clock spring so I will go forward with that thought.
