Finally got me a truck...
Finally got me a truck...
Last month my parents bought a house and gave me the truck that was in the back yard. (Well, actually they told me that I had to get rid of it...) I need to trace the vin number to be sure,(DMV acts that the car doesn't exist if it is before 1981) but it's a 60's GMC Suburban with a 318 V-6 and automatic transmission. It needs to be restored somewhat, but how about I drop a Cummins into it? I read that the V-6 in it at the moment weighs 850 lbs, and that was the smallest engine they put in them, so it shouldn't be a problem to drop in a 950 lb Cummins, especially if i need to reposition the radiator.
Anybody know anything about these old Suburbans? Thanks for any help.

Seems like I saw either a Suburban or panel van on E-bay. I've also seen a couple Suburbans on TDR'S sight. I'm not a member, but check their classifieds from time to time. You could probly go with a set up like the 89-91 CTD, without the inter-cooler, to save room for the radiator. You would'nt be pulling much of a load with it anyway.
