Fan Always On

Hey guys, I had the hood popped the other night and fired the truck up COLD and the fan was on as well. I was looking to make a cardboard winter grill to go between the intercooler and rad to help morning warm-ups but noticed my fan seems like it's always running.

Is this normal or has my clutch seized engaged or what?

Mine seems the same way. Im interested on some insight also. I think when tax return time comes I'm going to treat myself to some flexlite electric fans and be done with it all. I'd rather hear the motor and turbo not the fan!!

I took my fan off for the winter. Will put a new clutch in it in spring as the old one is REALLY stiff. The electrics look good, but do not flow as much as the stock fan.

Is the fan "on" just from the belt/clutch spinning. Or is the fan actually ON/engaged to wear you rev up the engine and all you hear is the fan pulling air?

It's normal. Even when cold the silicone fluid in the clutch has to redistribute before the fan will slow down. It indicates you have a ggod clutch.

If you decide to take it off, do not lay it down flat as that can ruin it. Hang it on the wall.

I cant necessarily hear it pulling air but the truck is shorty straight piped with a turn down dumping right before the right rear and i dont have an under-hood blanket so it pretty loud.

I don't tow anything and it's not terribly cold here (average around 30F right now), and mostly highway driving. Would I be ok to take off the fan?
