Drain plug 47re
Have any of you installed a drain plug on your trans pan ? If so is there anything in paticular to be known or careful of or a specific type to buy ? I'm installing a new trans an after drowning myself last night I thought now would be the time to cure this proublem . I'm looking at one from NAPA .
I usually drill a 3/8 hole in the pan and then weld a 3/8 nut over it. Take the 3/8 bolt and slide a snug O-ring over the bolt and tighten it snug but not so tight you squeeze out the o-ring. You could also use a nylon washer instead of the o-ring and then tighten the bolt tighter.

I drill a hole in the pan, hacksaw a 1/4 inche pipe threaded cast iron coupleing in half, then braze it over top of the hole.
B+M has a kit for installing a drain plug but it has a tendancy to leak.
