Died on the side of the road

Started her up this morning and drove 1/2 mile at 45mph and it just shut itself off. Took me a fue trys to get it to start, it ran allright after that and I stoped and restarted 5 0r 6 times with no problumes. When I got home I turned the key 3 times and got P 0500 and P 1693, any one know what the codes are.
Thanks Bud

P1693 - "A companion DTC was set in both the ECM and PCM." That's what my
code program says. Sorry I can't tell you what that means. Sit tight, someone will know.

The speed sensor is on top of the rear axle. It will effect the speedo (erratic) and usually set the ABS light, but never heard of one causing a truck to die.

Thanks. Maybe the outher code P 1693 has to do with it shuting it self down ? When I tryed to restart it it cranked a fue times no fire an then it coughed then fired on the next try. If I take it to some one with a scan tool can thay get a reading to tell me what's going on with the truck.

All the 1693 means is that the code was recognized by both the ECM and PCM. Dieing like that could be a fuel pump loosing prime/going bad or the injector pump going bad (usuallys set a P0216 code), or the APPS going bad. If you don''t have a fuel pressure gauge, get one and check you pressure. That's the first place to start.....no fuel to the IP. A remote chance, but bad batteries or corroded posts can also cause a problem.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
When all else fails, start looking for a VP44. And don't plan on long trips till resolved.

Well thanks for the replys. The P 0500 code explains the cruse droping out that sender was replaced 2 years ago . Hope the P 1693 code is not the VP44, this truck only has 60,000 miles on it , I was not planing on anouther truck for a wile 10 or 15 years maybe. At 64 I don't want to work on this truck eather, O well.
If I hook a gauge to the drain on the filter and lift the handel with the motor running will I get a presure reading or a mess. or do I have to find a fitting for the inlet on the injection pump.
