Dead pedal on occassion

OK, maybe a little more than on occassion. I was driving down the freeway the other day, and the truck got the dead pedal again. CE light cameon wiht the 216 code. Now here is the messed up part. If I let off the trottle, and hammer it again, everything is fine!!!! What ios going on here. The FPis FINE. This makes NO sense to me at all... I know I probably have a dead FP, but I am not sure that is the problem right now. Will the APPS reset fix this? I am going to try this now.

You can try an APPS reset but that code is the injector pump.

when mine did that on my old 98.5 i would clean the connections on the APPS and it would quit for a while, but then i had to replace the APPS after awhile.

We just put a used apps on my brothers 2001 who was experiencing the exact same problem. Problem just became more and more often. Replacing the apps solved the problem completely. He got one from a salvage yard for $200, new from the dealer is over $400 I believe.

My 01 3500 just started doing this too. Any pictures around to help me find the faulty sensor?

Thanks

You really need to try bio-diesel. It has much higher lube quality. I've had the same codes and now am using 11% bio, and this truck has never run so smooth. At the least I'd say double dose it with a good lube.
I have a thread over at the TDR.

But I can't run bio without converting a lot of things in the motor. I amy go with the lube for the gas tank. Does anyone recommend any certain kind og lube?

Please explain this comment.

As I understand, you can run Bio-diesel without converting anything. Bio-diesel is blended with regular number 2. For example, B20 is 20% bio mixed with number 2.

How did a new LP fix the dead pedal issue? My LP is running 12psi at 70mph no load and I'll get dead pedal.

My brother has on 01 HO and is getting the same issue as me. I am getting the P0216 and P1693 codes but I don't think it means it is a bad VP I think it's not communicating with the APPS properly so the computer is logging the comminication issue. I hope it's something as such and easily fixed.

I'll try replacing the APPS before replacing the VP44. Funny thing is with my truck I can just push in the clutch and let the engine rev a little then she'll be fine. It concerns me especially when I'm pulling horses. No power is no good.....

I finally did something that seemed to solve it for the most part. I did an APPS reset. I kept the cables off the abtteries for 2 hours, and then let it go. Since then, the code has not come back up. *knock on wood* I have to replace the LP as well, so I think I will replace the LP and add an in line pump by the tank (carter). Wish me luck.

Man I hope that works for you. I know it's a pain and disconcerting to know you may lose throttle at any time.

I'm praying it works for ya!
