Dead Pedal
Anyone else experiencing the occassional Dead gas Pedal? Both of my 03's have done it. Start the truck, press the pedal and nothin. Have to shut it off, restart and all is good. Does it a couple of times a month.
Any TSB's out there or fixes anyone has had that work???

Look at TSB 18-027-03: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/18-027-03.htm
No throttle response if the engine is started with the Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) in an off-idle position (pedal depressed) and the transmission is shifted into drive or reverse while the APPS remains in an off-idle position (pedal depressed), causing the engine to remain at idle.

Wow that's pretty wild. I guess I am fortunate that I've never had that happen. At least it didn't happen to you while you were driving.
A fix you may try is recalibrating the throttle sensor. I can't remember where the post is, but someone explained the procedure. I don't have the shop manual in front of me to check right now either. Good Luck.

The way I read it, is that if you're not experiencing the lack of towing power, just keep your foot off the pedal when you start it - and forget the reflash.
It sounds like whats happening is that this was supposed to be a safety feature designed to protect the tranny from spike loads upon starting but turned into a nuisance.

Thanks for the feedback on the TSB. Interesting that they site only trucks equiped with the 48RE. My 03 six shooter did it as well.
I've copied the TSB and when I take the truck in, I'll take it along.
Thanks again.
