Dead pedal, no codes...
The last two days I have had the 'dead pedal' three times (pushing on accelerator pedal produces no acceleration; if I let off the pedal, then push on it again, the truck accelerates). I am not getting any codes when I do the key on / off / on / off / on check; also the Scangauge does not show any codes when it is happening. Does anyone have any idea what this means? Can the VP-44 be on its way out without throwing codes? Thanks in advance for any input.

i may be wrong on this but i think it may be your apps sensor going out. i have the same problem with my truck and have had for 2 years. vp-44 seems to be fine no hard starts or nothing and fp is great. i am going to try replacing my apps sensor to fix the problem. you can do a search on here for the symptom you are having and find a bunch of reading material on it.

I had dead pedal for at least 5 months before mine went and first couple times happened hooked up scan tool and no codes..was funny would hit a bump on the highway and lost pedal then came back few seconds later...I was hoping was loose wire but when wrung out harness wasnt..finally in feb it died on road would start but wouldnt run long...then I got codes...and was my vp44..replaced in a few hours wasnt a bad repair...now I make sure every tank gets 2 stroke oil about a pint per 10 gals..in my case I knew the pump was going and should have replaced when knew it..milage was off and power wasnt half what should have been.. Same thing happened here. Pedal dead sometimes let off a sec and then back on and it would pull.
I got t=no codes and got bad mileage.
It lasted almost 1 year and still.
I replaced the VP44 and putin an Airdog150. Over and done with it.
Oh a good way to test a VP44 that I found out is:
Try pulling a nice heavy trailer for say.. 5 miles plus at highway speeds 65 and if its weak you'll see issues acting up.
At least that really did it for me, never left me stranded but just actedup real bad.!
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help guys. I keep trying to watch my apps position on the Scangauge, but it updates slow enough that I can't really tell if the apps is changing position as I press the pedal or not... Lots of fun...

I would go after the apps first. When I get dead pedal its only in the first couple minutes of running.I just turn the truck off do an apps reset(turn key on press accelerator slowly to floor and slowly return pedal turn key off then restart truck and I'll bet you'll be fine.

You can have codes without a check light. To check for codes, first you can turn the ignition switch on and off 3 times leaving it on the 3rd time. The code will display on the odometer.
If it gives you a P01693 then there is internal codes you need a read to get.
To reset the APPS you really need to disconnect the batteries and leave the ignition on for at least 30 minutes to drain the capacitors. Then turn th ignition off, and reconnect the bateries. Then turn the ignition on (not start just on) and slowly press the pedal all the way down and back 1 time. then turn the switch off. Then apps has been reset.
