My 2001 2500 will not start.I connected a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel system at the injector pump,turned motor over i had mabe 8lbs of pressure for just a instant then the pressure went to 0,truck will not even try to crank.any help would be appreciated.

 

Check your fuel level, check the fuel filter condition, and try bleeding the system. It sounds like you probably have a bad lift pump, and I don't even want to say what else might be bad. Try the above first.

 

when you bump the starter can you hear the lift pump run?? (should be over 20 seconds)

 

I changed the filter,drove 390 miles,killed the truck,tried to start it,it turns over ok but does not try to start.I can hear the lp for a couple of seconds.With the fuel pressure gauge connected at the injector pump,when i turn the key on i get about 8 lbs fuel pressure,when i turn the motor over the pressure goes to 0.Thanks

 

dont just turn the key on - you have to bump the starter - so that is engages the starter but doesnt start the truck. The LP should run for around 23 secs.
