Cruise Control And Airbag Light
Ok, I had a leaking steering gear box, so I replaced it. Now the AIRBAG light is on and the cruise is inop. Now, sure, I pressure washed the truck engine compartment and the under carriage. Where do I start looking at? All fuses APPEAR to be good. Thanks.

Has there been time for everything to dry under the hood?
Why this would affect the airbag, unless you got water in the PDC
(big plastic box with fuses, relays and such in it).
For the cruise, there is a box under the driver side battery hooked to vaccum, often the line comes loose, or battery acid drips down on them compromising their integrity.
On edit, where is the airbag sensor on a 99?
Mine has the momentum switch in the cab,
but maybe the 99's had them in the front end, behind the headlights maybe?

A couple of people I knew had the problem w/ cruise and the air bags...come to find out there was a plug coming loose in the steering column when they pegged out the steering wheel one way...maybe your steering wheel moved more when you had the steering box off???

I think you have to pop the wheel off (disconnect the air bag first !!!). The clockspring is there to supply the voltages to the moving airbag and button when you turn the wheel.

1. buy clockspring
2. remove 3 torx screws from steering column cover
3. remove 2 8 mm bolts from air bag.
4. remove wires from airbag, take time to figure out locking system for wires
5. remove steering wheel.
6. unplug long wire running down steering colum.
7. unplug remaining wires from clockspring.
8. wiggle locks loose on clockspring.
9. remove clockspring.
10. re-install clockspring and revere steps.
