ABS Brake Light, Cruise Control and Overdrive
ABS Brake Light, Cruise Control and Overdrive
Hi,
1994 Dodge 2500 Ram Diesel 4 wheel drive.
I was in a bad rainstorm a few weeks ago, my abs and brake light came on.
I thought something may have got wet. It's been a few weeks (plenty of time to dry out.) It comes on when the truck is idling but when I rev the motor it goes off. I checked all the fuses etc. even unhooked the batteries.
I took it to my mechanic to have him check it out and he put it on the scanner and he said the abs sensor is bad and they cost $250. He said I didn't need it if I didn't want to spend the money. Well my cruise control quit working also, so I bought the $12 brake pedal switch but that didn't work either. I think the overdrive isn't working also? Could it be a vacuum leak? The mechanic said he checked the vacuum and it was fine. Speedometer works fine.

I had the same problem with my '03 (only after rainstorms). Took it in to the dealer (warranty you know) and they told me it was the APPS. They changed it and the problem did not go away. Took it back and they said it was the ECM. They changed that. Still didn't go away. I finally took the connectors to the ECM off myself, cleaned them and covered with electrical grease. Problem hasn't come back and that was 60,000 miles ago.
