TTT,

64 views and no response. That could be good.

I don't think the problem is really as common as one might think. At any rate, I came across this thread over on the other site that might interest you:
http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...=cracked+block
Of course I don't even have a #53 block, so it's pretty much all academic to me.

bluebull, you should add a category for those with 53 blocks and over 100,000 miles that have NOT cracked yet. You could add more categories breaking down the mileage more, but that would give you the other side of the coin, at least for DTR members.

Where at in ND?

I'm originally from Bismarck.

I'd like to know what the chance of this happing is. I have alot of money into it, to get it the way I like it. I don't want to sell it but if the chances are good that it's going to brack, It's going down the road.

If mine ever cracks, I will try the devcon. We use it at work to repair huge pump impellers (30000 gpm) that are damaged and worn. We have pulled the pumps back out after 4 to 5 years and the devcon is still holding, and the metal around it was worn.
I really think it would hold if the metal was prepared right.

Uh......*BIG gasp of air!!!*..does running the truck with a hole in the rad (for a year!), and only running watter in the dead of winter and then the truck brakes something in the driveline and parking it outside of the shop on the coldest night of the year with the bolck heater pluged in for 3 days, but doesnt do anyting because the water level was too low and cracked the block from the tranny to the oil filter head, cracking the oil filter head spraying oil under the hood and interanly causing water to leak into the crank case as fast as you can pour it in, count.................getting fuzzy.......*THUMP* AND no....this wasnt my truck! haha.....

But I needed to vote twice... The original cracked at 60,000 and the one I was duped into buying cracked at 6000. You said only if you have actually seen one. I have "seen" a half dozen. You could not give me one unless I needed the rest of the parts.
