cracked blocks W/53 + 12V?

The '98 12v I found was a 53 block. I tow very heavy, so... didn't want to chance it. Is it possible to find a 12v '98 w/o a 53? (by posts on '53' it says 80% were '53's...?)

Have any 12V '53's cracked? (I would assume it is a function of heat, which I would guess a bombed 12v would be slightly higher than 24v.)

more 24 valves were built with the 53 block. From what i've read....

12 valve's with the 53 block seem rarer....

The 53 is a real you know what. When I bought my truck last year I knew nothing about it but now that I do I wouldn't have touched the truck. Only has 66,000 on it and just started leaking but thankfully I bought a 3 years 36,000 warrenty when I got it so I'm good to go The crack is very small right now, going to wait a little bit to make it bigger so its a clear cut problem so they can replace the block.

cummnz4x4pwr bought a cracked 53 12v to do a p-pump conversion on his ISB. I don't see why the 12v's would be special in not cracking blocks. Probably just that a cracked 53 is pretty rare to begin with, and couple that with the fact that 12v's only had the 53 for half a year.

Cracked 53?

I'm looking at a 98 12 valve and I'd like to know where to look for the "53" block and does it crack in one area?

Thanks
