Confused HX35

Purchased the 99 in Feb but I've thought all along it had an HY35 up until today. Getting ready to tap the manifold for gauges and noticed the tag HX35I thought the autos came w/the HY35 and manual trans have the HX35. I'm guessing it's been changed out to the HX? The reason I ask is because I'm going to install larger injectors (possibly Jammer 2-3 or M1/M1.6) and possibly an HE341 turbo (if it will bolt right on).....but I tow a 5klb boat weekly during the summer (April-Oct for us in Texas) and don't want to cook the exhaust. Looking for your $.02 advice.

99 autos came stock with an HX35W. Never heard of a HX35I? The autos didn't get the HY until 01.

I don't know what you're trying to show/tell me here? From what you posted, some of the 00 had the HY? The first example lists 98-00 as having the HX35 and the second line reads the 2000 ISB as having the HY.

Either way, the point of this thread was to let him know that the 99s came with a HX35W with the auto.

I hear ya, I was mainly talking about the HX35W and the auto transmission. I still don't think they went to HY35 with auto until 01.

thanks for all the input. I was just under the impression that "ALL" autos came w/the HY35 and "ALL" manual trans came w/HX35 for emission reduction.

Since you guys seem to be informed on the stock turbos do you know if a 2003-04 HE341 turbo(I understand it is larger) will bolt up to my stock location. The reason I ask is becuase I'm thinking of upgrading sticks to Jammer 2 or3(for price) OR for F1/1.6. I do tow a 5k boat weekly during the summer so I don't want to fry w/high egts. Thanks for all the info.

Can't help you with the turbo, but you should be fine with a 2nd level injector and your stock HX35. I have a box and level 1 injectors and tow my 6500lb boat all over the place. Lug it up a large hill, yes I can make the EGTs climb, but easily controlled by not doing that.

You can't run the 3rd Gen turbo as the compressor housings are different. I agree with Sea:\>Drive, the HX35 should work fine with the injectors you mentioned.

Ok, thanks for the $.02. That was top on the list for upgrades within the next week but now it's figuring out alignment issues after two blowouts on the front right.
