Change one battery at a time. You wont loose any settings.

Very Smart Idea.

Actually, I only put that in the title because it fit easier. I had my altinator rebuilt, so I had to have them both un-hooked at the same trime. I have been driving it with out reseting it. but it feels a little like it did before I reset it last time.

Apps, what is it, and how do you reset it, and what is the pedal method. Thanks.

The APPS (accellerator pedal position sensor) is a fancy name for the throttle position sensor.

You don't have to reset it after you've had the batteries diconnected, the truck will still run fine. But if you want the ECM to see the correct idle and wide open values, you have to start with the cables disconnected:
Reconnect the battery cables, and turn the key to the on position, but don't start the truck!
Slowly press the pedal all the way to the floor and let off slowly, then turn the key off. Simple as that, you have now reset the APPS.

Don't forget to let it sit for at least 30 min with batteries disconnected.
Actually...have had better luck waiting about two hrs.
