Code p1693
Code p1693
I just had my tranny rebuilt. I got a new billet convertor, all new solenoids and three Sonnax valves. plus the standard rebuild.
Not bad for $2500 out the door after labor, tax and EPA fees.
My problem is they told me it's still throwing a P1693 code and that it's probably from the BCM.
I'm supposed to bring it back when I can and they'll try to run it down.
What's a BCM and what does it control?
What's a 1693 and how serious is it.
Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of the overhead console odometer but that hasn't worked in about3 years.

Well I found the rarest of things on earth....an honest dealership
I took my truck to get the tranny rebuilt to a national repair chain and after they finished the work they found it still had a companion code 1693.
While the shop not to be named was less then stellar one of the mechs remembered that there was supposedly a TSB about TC lockup problems and having the PCM reflashed(dealer only work). I bit the bullet and drove all the way across town to a dodge chrysler Jeep dealer that one of the guys in my Jeep club works.
115$ to reflash and I asked if that code would cause my ABS and brake light to come on. Well they reflashed which did clear the code and while it was on the comp they read what was wrong with the brakes NO EXTRA CHARGE
The service manager called and told me that it was a faulty brake switch and that it would be $49 to be replaced but since they didn't have one it might take a few days. I could either wait or get the part myself
WHAT?
Well I said I would get it myself thanked him, paid $134 after tax and went home happy.
PCM reflash $134
brake switch $16 after shipping
Finally finding a dealer I don't think is out to screw me....PRICELESS!!
