p1693 code & questions
i test drove a truck with a p1693 code stored in its memory when i turned the key on 3 times... that was the only one and i also heard the lift pump running when he started the truck up & it did not miss when I was out driving at WOT.. So is this a good indication that the lift pump is good and should I have them replace that sensor before I pick it up tomorrow? Because from reading hear i know that that is the code for the crank position sensor... Also he showed me the bill for the ranny & the whole tranny is rebuilt so no worries with that ... The truck is a 2000 Dodge & was wondering if these have a tone ring that could come loose like TBrown's did... And wear out that sensor...

P1693 is a companion code, it means nothing by itself.
It is just saying that there is a code stored in the ECM that the PCM can't see.
Or, there was a code once upon a time.
You'll have to have it scanned for the actual code, as there are some that don't show up with the key on/off method.

could this code be related to anything serious.... my buddy drove the truck and went to shift to neutral and accidently went to reverse..lol i was going to kill him...he caught it in time before anything happened the truck was in reverse for like a half second and bucked before he shifted out we were going like 25 30 he was going to slow down a little and shift into 4 high..could this have tripped the code the check engine light never came on i just cycled the key and came across the code...

Could be something simple, could be expensive.
If nothing appears amiss with the truck, then it was probably simple.

Here's a fer instance for you.
Spin your tires and throw a P0500, no vehicle speed sensor input,
check engine light doesn't come on.
This will also throw the P1693.
Tires aren't spinning anymore so the P0500 clears itself after so many restarts, but for some reason the P1693 remains in there.
Nice and simple, no harm done.
