clutch or hydrolics?

I was diving tonight, had to stop and the truck wouldn't go back in gear. I am able to start it and "float" the grears like a big rig. but the clutch pedal is usless. Pleas help this is my daily driver. It's the truck in my sig.

And I'm stuck sitting at my in-laws till it gets later and the roads less busy.

I already posted in "help" but I think this may get me faster and better results.

Check fluid in hydraulics. I'm guessing the clutch.

it has plenty of fluid. the pedal is a lot softer than it was before. and it is slow at returning to the regular position.

is that not a sealed system for the clutch? I have a 98.5 and there is no clutch resevior. If the sealed line springs a leak you have to replaece th whole assem. as one unit

Mine has a res. it is bolted to the fire wall.

Oh also I forgot to put. I pulled the slave cylinder off and it had fluid kinda just sitting on the rubber dust boot. Would that mean that it is bad and just needs replaced? (like I'm figuring) or could it be a clutch issue? Either way I need to get this figured out by tomorrow so I have time to get it fixed, I'm going on a trip that I need the truck for on thursday. Thanks for the input everyone. Please keep it coming till this gets figured out.

p.s. I'll keep everyone up to date on what I find.

So I got the new hydro. linkage by south bend and changed it out. Man I never missed driving my truck so much than I did for the 2 days it was down. Now the clutch is "like a dream" it will be better once I get a new one though.
Thanks for all the input.

No I didn't even think twice about the dealer when I heard/ seen that the South Bend set up has a braided stainless line instead of plastic. But for kicks I went to dodgeparts.com just to check, the price there was $283, but I'm sure that it's probably close or more than either price. But I'm sure that someone will chime in on what the dealer wants.

SB just seems better to me; 1-braided stainless line, 2-adjustable for the pedal height,3- I read that the physical dimentions are bigger.
And after seeing the stock and SB system side by side, SB is bigger. Also when trying to bolt the master cylinder to the fire wall I had to get a swival socket and a 3" extention because the ratchet nor a wrench would fit in the space or it wouldn't turn.

If I every have to do it again, or make a recomendation.....South Bend all the way!!!
