So my clutch hydrolics exploded yesterday... the slave cylinder to be exact. And the *********** wants $378!!!! can i use 2nd gen hydrolics? or the SB upgraded ones?? I have an NV4500 with teh SB DD clutch and my hydrolics worked fine before, but now i need new ones. i Cant seem ot find ANY info one interchanging hydrolics ANYWHERE..... i need my truck back!!

Problem is i need the whole unit pre bled, ive tried using new slave and master cylinders but they dont have bleed valves. I need the one thats complete.

Yeah i bought both slave and master form autozone... just cant bleed them.. no bleeder valves.... And i didnt see any on rock auot that had the bleed valve either

Im really curious if the 2nd gen hydros will work on a first gen though....??

You can bleed them, I have bled mine on the side of the road after the slave blew apart. I used my foot and pumped the fork end toward the motor and had good clutch in just a few minutes. The funny thing is that I am still driving on that JB Weld, roadside repair, done in 2005 Mark

 

Also, they will naturally bleed, if you have the time. Just leave the top off and the air will eventually leave, but I really did that roadside bleed and it worked like a champ...Mark

 

Wow... wish mine worked that well... but i tried and nothing worked. I ended up pulling the slave apart and bleeding the fluid thru it and then putting the slave piston back in and it worked... sorta, but with my SB DD clutch i need more pedal travel to fully disengage the clutch.

Just to be clear, I was pushing the slave internals about 1/4" -1/2" in the REVERSE direction of movement. It pumped the air out pretty fast and did no apparent damage...Mark

 

Hmmmm well we tried that.... pumping the slave rod in and out and got very few tiny air bubbles in the clutch resivoir..... but ill try again i guess... really dont wanna buy new hydrolics if i can get these bled right.

Paint me an optimist, but any air coming out shows that it works, I would keep trying until no air comes out, but that's the internal optimist speaking...Mark

I used to be optimistic.... i think i lost it somewhere a few years ago.... im slowly finding the pieces

yeah same here, id push the slave piston in and then let the spring push it back out.... but that didnt get me very good results, thats when i took the slave piston out and let fluid pump thru it and then slid the piston back in and then it worked.... sorta lol

Leave the cap off the reservoir for a couple nights, air will work it's way up, dang there goes that darn optimism again......Mark

 

they will interchange between second and first gen specially if you have nv4500 not hundred percent sure on getrag mine is off a 97 on my puller and it works and mounted great
