Check valve placement

Hey guys,
I have a problem with fuel draining out of the fuel line, so I bought a check valve. Should I place the check valve closer to the FASS or the fuel filter?

Thanks in advance.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
Fuel will bleed down through return line. Such is the design. If you had a air leak would complain of hard starting.

I do have a hard starting issue. That's why I want to see if the check valve will help the problem. If it doesn;t fix it, I'll know the problem is elsewhere. Just need to know where to put it.

Back when I ran holley pumps I always put them before the holley, so I would say put it before the FASS.

I too have a hard starting problem, thought it was drainback, installed check valve right after L.P. problem persists. Ive been dealing with this problem for 6 mos. I called a Cummins Tech. I am going to let him have at it.

I would suggest putting it (If you must run one) on the pressure side as some of these valves need about 1-5- PSI before they open....this would not be good on the suction side of the pump as it adds restriction. I would always put something like that on the pressure side...

just a thought....i had the same problem, or so i thought....if i parked slightly down hill, it would fire right up, if i parked on level or uphill...it started like an old ford in the winter time...

i tried everything under the sun, the truck had 155k on it with the stock VP on it, i ended up replace'n the VP, and guess what...no more problems...

picked up a check valve today, it takes 4psi to open, I put it on the pressure side of the lift pump, truck starts ok after a 2 or 3 hours, but after overnight it is just as bad, need to bump the starter and let the LP run for a couple times, then crank and crank.....

I have all new 3/8 fuel line from tank to IP. fuel pressure is around 13 at idle, LP is new, I have a 2001 fuel filter canister on my truck. I have fixed the sending unit in the tank..

Only things left I can check are the return line, the rubber o rings and the injectors. After that looks like a new VP44...... This sucks!!!!
