Belt Driven LP?
Belt Driven LP?
I was just thinking...what about a belt driven LP? They are in the $500 range and flow a rediculous amout of fuel. Are they not street legal? Is there no space? Is it just a dumb idea?
One flaw would be no "bump" option or pre-start run, but it would flow nicely when running.

There you go...you had to post the link...my hand is reaching for my wallet as I type...
That is precisely what I am looking for. I like mechanical. I just might give it a try.

I have been running a RASP pump for over 100k now. It looks like the above pump is similar in design. Not sure you can still get a rasp or not. However the pump nor the belt have ever failed. I replaced the front seal once took literally 10 minutes and $2.00.
Hmm I may look into this pump some more as well. I currently have an Airtex about 2 months old, however if/when it dies I might give this pump a try.
Hillcountry, if you go this route let us know how it runs!

This GDP Fuel Boss a great pump! I have had mine on for 5 months now, no problems. In fact it is a complete fuel system, which keeps your existing electric pump(3rd gen) operational. But the oem pump is only used for initial priming during starting(not really needed) and in case the Fuel boss malfunctions, the oem pump will kickin automatically, as a backup. This is a great system. I do recommend you also by the GDP bypass vavle tuning kit also, this allows you to adjust the fuel presurre to your own prefernece. With mine, I run 7.5 psi at idle and goes up at a linear rate with rom, reaching around 30 psi around 2,400 rpms.
That is really cool. I will go this route next time. I seem to be losing 1 PSI every few months so I am shopping. I like the looks of the GDP kit.
Does it plumb in seperately or does it Tee off the existing line?

It has its own separate feed & return lines plus pickup. Also includes all wiring, bypass valve, schroeder valve, ect. The most work, besides running the lines is having to drop the fuel tank. You have to drill a separate hole in the top of the tank for the new fuel pickup. While I was at it, I went ahead and bought the GDP MK-II fuel filter kit, This kit puts a 2 micron filter between your existing oem filter and the IP.
The Fuel Boss is a great kit, looks very professional, very good instructions, nice fit. The most important thing I can recommend is taking your time (10-14 hrs work) and do it right, you won't regret it.
