Check Gauges light help

Strange one happened today, check gauges light came on while idling around in the mountains, when it came on I realized my Volt gauge was reading zero. Left the truck idling and jumped out to check for a loose battery connection. Did not see anything, the batteries are 1 year old NAPA brand so I assumed my alternator was going out. Cut my trip short and headed for home. An hour to get home nothing registering on the volt gauge all the way home, "check gauges light on all the way as well. Finally got home shut her down and did a little closer look. I cannot find a thing so I fire it back up and to my surprise everything is working as normal, I did find two codes, p1682 and p1693. One is a companion code and the other is volt reading too low code. Anyway I am stumped, what is going on with my truck?? I suppose it could be a one time hiccup but is not how things usually work for me. Anyone have any thought on this one? I am going to drive it for the next few days and see if it will do it again.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not really, I cleaned all of my terminals really well and cleared the code. Never happened again? I still watch for it and I still think it may have had something to do with the alternator but without it doing it more I really never knew for sure. If you figure it out let me know, I would try what I did first and see if it works for you.

Good luck
