bleeding injectors

when you bleed the air out of the inection lines how much pressure should come out? I bleed mine and only a small squirt with not much assumed pressure behind it came out. will the lift pump push through the injection pump if the truck doesnt start?

Once you get fuel out of the fuel lines at the injectors you are pretty much good to go. You should only need to bleed a couple of them too. It will run rough for a little, but once all the air is out it should be fine. Why are you bleeding the injector lines? Just change filters or something?

im having problems getting the truck to run. i think that the inj. pump is bad so im trying to eliminate all the other possibilities first. i just thought that the lines going to the injectors would have more pressure then they did. it really didnt spray much fuel at all.

Once the air is bled out, they should spray pretty good.
Injector pump puts out something like 10,000 psi? or some outrageous amount.
I know it's high enough to pierce your skin should you have a finger right there by it.

Think I read somewhere they push like 19,400 psi? Or was that 14,900?
Whatever, its up there.

Did you pull the codes (or any display on their own in the odometer window?)

check engine light was on and the check gauges light came on but never checked the codes. can you use a sequence with the ignition to check codes on a 99?

Nope, you need to get them scaned on a 99.

You only need at least three cylinders firing to be able to start the engine. Crack lines 1, 3, and 5, or 2, 4, and 6. Wait till all three squirt and then tighten them up. It should start and run rough until the air is purged out of the remaining three.

BTW some 99 truck can do the code retrieval with the key. I believe its the models just before the 2000 model came out.
