Truck quits and restarts after bleeding injectors
A friend of mine has a 1992 D250 CTD. Last night he called to tell me the truck quit while coasting on an off ramp. The truck would not restart just cranking. After putting a fresh fuel filter on it it still would not start. He had a full tank of fuel. To verify he was getting fuel to the injectors I had him crack open one of the lines. There was fuel there. I had him crack open three of the injectors and try to start the truck. It started. That got him about a mile down the road and then the same thing while coming to a stop the engine quit. He got it started the same way. 2 more times of quiting while at stoplights or coming to a stop. He made it home everytime opening the lines at the injectors and was able to start it. The Plunger is gone and its on a pull cable so thats not an issue. Any ideas? I'm leaning toward the lift pump. what are the signs of a lift pump going bad??? sounds to me like the truck is starving for fuel.

Sounds like it is (as usual) getting air. If it were me I would set up an IV feed from a 2 or 5 gallon tank directly to the IP. (If you have a clean in line filter put that in for safety.) If it runs then you know that you have a problem up stream and that you IP is OK.
Then you can work your way back through the fuel lines, filter, LP, sending unit, return lines, etc. until you isolate the problem.
Good Day,
JP.

If it helps any, I have been having this same problem intermittently on my truck. Only happens below 1/2 tank too. When I pulled everything apart, the filter on the bottom of the fuel module was plugged almost solid. The engine would drain the return cup dry, then pull air.
