Usually the sensors just fail rather than go bad.
But I guess anything is possible.
Have you hooked up a manual gauge to see if your engine is really running that pressure?

If you buy from Cummins direct the sensor is around 80 bucks or so.
Really though, I wouldnt drive until you figure out exactly what is going on.

You can read your pressure manually at the filter housing.
Go to lowes or home depot, ace or the like and buy a 1/8" brass hose fitting.
Then attach hose to a manual guage that reads to about 150psi.
You can buy a cheap air gauge from napa or the like for about 5 bucks.

For about 20 bucks you might be able to save your self some money.

Chances are you only need a sender. Go to Cummins and you should be able to get on a lot cheaper. If it is similar to the 12v one, you need to use a real deep 1 1/16" SIX POINT socket. Do a search and you should even be able to find a part number.
