Black smoke

I know diesels throw black smoke but it just seems that mine smokes more than other diesels i've seen on the road. Is this normal or is there a possible problem?

Ruben

Re:Black smoke

A stock CTD should not smoke except for very rare occurrences.

I would check for a leaky/bad injector. Something is dumping in too much fuel if you have bad smoke. Do you have any enhancements?

Hohn

Re:Black smoke

No, i've bought the truck used about 2 months ago. It has 40,000 miles on it and has had nothing done to it of my knowledge. Its doesnt pour out smoke real bad but its just seems like its more than others I see on the road. When im at a steady speed it doesnt smoke at all. Its seems like times it will smoke and others it wont.

Thanks for your help,

Ruben

Re:Black smoke

Ruben, can you get intouch with the previous owner? He might of installed larger injectors? Like 275RV's. That would be nice

Re:Black smoke

It's hard to see the white tire smoke through all of JohnP's black smoke. I'm sure that woman in the mini van at Black Mountain Diesel didn't notice though.

DB
